Professor Donna Strickland is an optical physicist who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2018, together with Gérard Mourou, for the practical implementation of chirped pulse amplification. She is the third woman in history to be awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics. She is currently a professor at the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada .
The chat will span a wide range of topics, including Professor Strickland’s professional journey,what drove her interest in the sciences, what is she excited about in physics and sciences in the coming years, and her advice for students, researchers and educators.
Students and teachers of sciences are welcome to attend, and so is anybody from the other fields interested in meeting up and close with one of the most inspiring women in the world of science today.
At the end of the session, Prof. Strickland will also answer questions from the audiences.
