Nonie Tuxen is a recipient of the Endeavour Postgraduate Scholarship in 2015, and it supports her fieldwork in India. Her thesis explores the growth of the ‘new’ Indian middle class and their desire for overseas education
“The Endeavour scholarship has been an incredibly rewarding program to be part of. Winning the Endeavour allowed me to join a network of high achieving early-career scholars conducting important and fascinating research. The Endeavour has not only allowed me to conduct research with generous funding, but has also connected me to life-long friends and colleagues,” shares Nonie.
She adds that the scholarship was supportive, both financially and in terms of the services available to recipients when they are outside their home country. “The Endeavour program allowed me to achieve my research goals by offering generous financial support, as well as connecting to me to other researchers who are important nodes in my social and professional network.”
The Endeavour program staff members were also supportive when Nonie fell ill during her fieldwork and needed to visit the hospital. “Being part of this program has introduced me to people who continue to play an important role in my personal and professional life.”
